Revetment

Revetment work

If you have a stream running through your property it is quite likely that it is undermining the bank. Revetment work is required to stabilize the bank and reduce the power from the water eroding it more.

We use the traditional method of fascines or faggots to prevent and reduce erosion to streams and river banks. These can be made from hazel, chestnut or willow brushwood bundles tied together and are around 6 feet (2 metres) long, then using chestnut posts to keep the faggots in place. Small particles of silt then collect around the faggots and build up thus preventing the power of the water from eroding the bank.

We have used hazel and willow to weave between chestnut posts and this is another method that works well.
